In ordering Albert Woodfox's release, Judge Brady also decreed that he could not be tried a third time. But on Friday June 12th The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered that Woodfox remain in prison-pending another hearing scheduled for late august. This follows a long pattern of abusing America's Political Prisoners that goes back at least to the 1960's if not before. It is a regular thing to hear on the news about OTHER countries imprisoning & even killing those who dare speak out against the government; but remain in denial about what happens right here in the so-called "Land of the Free!" Mumia Abu Jamal is dying in a Pennsylvania Prison, with little access to adequate healthcare and very limited visitation from the outside world. Assata Shakur remains in hiding in Cuba, with a $2 Million Dollar Bounty on her head, though scientific evidence proves she could never committed the crime she was convicted of. As for The Angola 3, Herman Wallace died in October 2013-just three days after being released from Angola & granted a new trial. Robert King was released in 2001. Educate yourself, and then educate others. The government is only able to do these things because they are winning the messaging war. We must get the word out, so that true justice can be achieved.
BLOCKING FREEDOM, INSTEAD OF PROTECTING IT: U.S. APPEALS COURT BLOCKS THE RELEASE OF ANGOLA 3 INMATE6/13/2015 Albert Woodfox has spent the last 43 years of his life in prison. Most of that time has been served in solitary confinement, without a window nor access to reading materials, at The Angola Louisiana State Penitentiary. Mr. woodfox's health is deteriorating rapidly-and he is currently suffering from Renal Failure, Hepatitis c, and Heart Disease. On Monday June 7th U.S. District Judge James Brady issued and order for his release, overturning two prior convictions for the death of prison guard Brent Miller in 1972. Woodfox had been convicted, along with two other inmates, and the three have remained in solitary confinement for most of that time ever since. The convictions were overturned based on Jury Misconduct & other Racial Biases involving the jury. Infamously called "The Angola 3," their isolation was officially justified on the grounds that their membership in The Black Panther Party & push for prison reforms could cause unrest among the other inmates. In ordering Albert Woodfox's release, Judge Brady also decreed that he could not be tried a third time. But on Friday June 12th The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered that Woodfox remain in prison-pending another hearing scheduled for late august. CLEVELAND POLICE OFFICER MICHAEL BRELO FOUND NOT GUILTY AFTER MURDERING AN UNARMED COUPLE IN 2012!!!5/23/2015 Despite evidence that Cleveland Police Officer Michael Brelo jumped on the hood of a car, and fired 15 shots into the windshield, today he has now been acquitted in the charge of voluntary manslaughter. Brelo was also acquitted of felonious assault in the course of executing Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams in November 2012. Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams were executed after Cleveland Police Officers sought to pull them over for an alleged "Turn Signal violation." The driver did not comply, and a chase ensued. During the chase more than 100 gunshots were fired into the car, by a total of 13 different officers. Brelo was the only officer charged-because he reloaded his weapon, jumped on top of the car, and continued firing long after the car had stopped moving. Police allege that the car backfired when taking off, which led them to believe that they had been shot at. No gun was ever found, nor was there any evidence that either person fired anything at any cop. Michael Brelo, who was facing 22 years in prison, was acquitted because his lawyers argued that "other officers fired during the final barrage of bullets and prosecutors couldn't prove when the fatal shots were fired." Judge John P. O'Donnell stated that "the state did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant Michael Brelo knowingly caused the deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams, because the essential element of causation was not proved for both counts...
It was reasonable despite knowing now that there was no gun in the car and he was mistaken about the origin of the gunshots." A total of 137 bullets were fired into the couple's car during the incident, and reports indicate that they were each shot at least 20 times each. The City of Cleveland has a long history of going far beyond the use of excessive force, and still has to address the matter of the officers that executed 12 Year Old Tamir Rice in 2014. That same year year their courts failed to file charges against cops that executed 22 Year Old John Crawford, who was shopping for an air rifle in Wal Mart. Late last year The City of Cleveland agreed to begin implementing reforms, after The U.S. Department of Justice investigated the Cleveland Police department & determined that there was a "Pattern or Practice of Excessive Force" and Violating Civil Rights. The full transcript of the judges decision can be found here: http://www.cleveland.com/court-justice/index.ssf/2015/05/read_the_judges_full_decision.html Last week Dorian Johnson filed a $25,000 lawsuit against The city of Ferguson & Former Officer Darren Wilson; and yesterday he went to jail in Ferguson. According to news reports "police had been called to check on a group of people who were possibly armed with guns. Johnson was accused of approaching an officer to keep him from making an arrest, and police say he also threw suspected narcotics onto the ground." This makes at least the second time this year that an eyewitness to Police Misconduct found himself in jail under suspicious circumstances (currently Ramsey Orta-who filmed the MURDER of Eric Garner-sits in a cell on Rikers Island). Oddly enough, the arrest of Dorian Johnson comes less than 24 hours after he made his lawsuit public.
For those that don't remember, Dorian Johnson was with Mike Brown when he was MURDERED. he is most famous for his testimony that Brown was shot "like an animal," and it is his now infamous interview from which the slogan "Hands Up-Don't Shoot" originates. As far as the actual arrest goes, the narrative remains the same. Officers "suspected" that that someone had a weapon, Johnson is "suspected" of having drugs on him, and Johnson somehow interfered with the officers ability to do their job. smh. Oh by the way, like so many other cases, no drugs were found. Johnson's lawsuit asserts that Darren Wilson targeted Brown & Johnson without probable cause; and that "Officer Wilson acted with either deliberate indifference and/or reckless disregard toward" #FTP Jerry Tarkanian was not as beloved as UNC's Dean Smith; but in all reality he helped make the game what it is today. Posting a career record of 729-201, Tark coached an aggressive style of play that had not been seen prior to his reign. More importantly, his system recruited the type of players that most Mainstream American Universities just would not touch. best known for his 1989-1990 & 1990-1991 teams, that dominated The NCAA, Tarkanian's "Running Rebels" won what was perhaps the most decisive NCAA Championship victory ever in 1990-plus introduced Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon & Greg Anthony to The Universe. They were labeled as Thugs & Criminals; but are now listed as among the greatest of all time. Might I add that the 30 Point victory is still the largest margin of victory, in a Championship Game in history. The following year the Rebels were right back in The Final Four, and lost a very suspect game to the same Duke squad that they had beaten by 30 the year before. The program was under investigation, by The NCAA, and ish just didn't look right. Eventualy Tark would cop a $2.5 Million Dollar Settlement from The NCAA, for how they harassed him & his program for decades. Anyway, Tark will always be loved by the Over 30 Crowd for entertaining us with his Ultra Aggressive "Street Ball" Style of coaching. Talking ish, posterizing dunks & hard fouls, they just didn't do these things in that time. He passed away today after experiencing several issues this year. For those that don't know, peep the links below. The night's not over; but based on earlier conversation with my Brother "DC Drama" Ruffin, the were just too many intriguing story-lines this week to wait until Monday. So here we go with Thought #1: The Tennessee Titans Suck Now; but have quite a few young pieces in place-that POTENTIALLY could make them a Top Team within the next three years… The NFC South has no team posting better than a .400 winning Percentage (that means NOT winning). Smh Adrian Peterson to The Cleveland Browns makes a lot of sense. They have an above average offensive line, good defense, and win-starved fan base that would welcome him to town. As a Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, this idea absolutely makes me want to vomit; but one has to admit that it makes sense. While still not a winning team, The St. Louis Rams have more wins than The Washington Redskins. Wins earned with one quarterback no one has heard of, and another that most fans probably didn’t know was even still employed. Remember all of those draft picks given up for the right to draft RGIII??? Somehow The New England Patriots just keep on doing it. Not throwing the ball to Andre Johnson is making the Houston Texans into one of most foolish franchises in the league (i.e. Al Davis not allowing Marcus Allen to be the centerpiece of the Raider game plan in the early nineties…) Never underestimate Peyton Manning. Or his pre-snap reads… Odell Beckham is a Certified BEAST!!! |
